Help, I need to find that post on tumblr language/linguistics/pidgin. It was NOT one of those tumblr slang translation posts. It started with someone pointing out how we all know when to pause despite the lack of punctuation, and then someone ended up defining pidgin and explaining how we’d actually developed a pidgin English on tumblr.

Time-Lords travel with other Time-Lords. So, I could be both the Librarian and a companion, and I doubt Time-Lord society would let a very young 50 year old run around on his own.

I don’t know if this is right, but repeated vowel sounds (diphthongs) are dropped in Elvish, I think. But, that’s just from my research in Elf names for a LOTRO character.

OK, this is NOT Elvish. It is a really cool way of writing English. When you use the Elvish alphabet but use English spelling, grammar, and who knows what all else, that would be transliterating, as opposed to translating. If you want to learn the coolest made-up languages of all time made by one of (yes, one of) the coolest linguists of all time, there are books. There are probably complete online guides.

But you are cool! This is a script demonstration, Tengwar. In fact, Tolkein himself would write Tengwar in English - as this guide shows how - to demonstrate the script. Tolkein made multiple Elven languages and scripts, seeing how languages evolve in a race over time. Tolkein ish bigger nerd than thou. Take a look. Quenya (High-elven) and Sindarin (Grey-elven) are his two complete languages, both using Tengwar script.

You’re right; I was judging solely from that particular post. Your blog and even this ask says otherwise, though! And thank you. It’s interesting to have heard someone very different personality-wise express a sentiment similar to what I have often thought myself.

If it helps, a basic test for whether you are an introvert or extrovert is to think about how you get energy. Does being alone wear on you and you need people and outings to get your energy? Extrovert. Or do outings and socialization take it out of you and you charge up by being alone? Introvert.

So this is an absolutely brilliant idea! Just attach the plug on to a window and it will harness solar energy. A small converter will convert it into electricity which can be freely used as a plug when you are in the car, on a plane or outside.

Love this design and I really think it has a great potential.

I did not know that Norway had its own fluffy cats. Point for Norway.

We had one until 2011. Mr Squeak (big cat, tiny voice) was huge, fluffy, smarter than he let on and cuddly to a ridiculous extent. He’s much missed. MI5, the United Kingdom’s counter-intelligence and security agency, considered using a team of trained gerbils to detect terrorists flying into Britain during the 1970s. According to Sir Stephen Lander, the organization’s former director, the Israelis had put the idea into practice, placing gerbil cages at security checks at the Tel Aviv airport. A fan wafted the scent of suspects into the gerbils’ cage, and the gerbils were trained to press a lever if they detected high levels of adrenalin.
